This technology also known as imaging spectroscopy is able to detect and identify minerals and vegetation types. Spectroscopy is commonly used to detect absorption bands, which are bands in a range of wavelengths in the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum which are characteristic of particular transitions from initial to final states in a substance.
